How to Read a Peptide COA

A certificate of analysis is a test record, not a treatment claim. This guide explains the fields a reader can inspect, what a COA can establish, and what remains outside its scope. What a COA is for

A COA connects a material or lot to a set of reported tests and results. Depending on the document, it may include identity, purity, assay, water content, residual solvents, endotoxin, sterility, or other quality attributes.

The value of the document comes from specificity: sample or lot identifier, test method, result, unit, specification or acceptance criterion, test date, and the organization responsible for the report. A generic template without a lot connection is much less informative.

What a COA can establish

  • That a named test was reported for a named sample or lot, when the document is complete and traceable.
  • The result and method details included in the document.
  • Whether the reported result meets the document's stated specification, if one is provided.
  • A starting point for asking better questions about material identity and analytical coverage.

What a COA does not establish

  • Clinical effectiveness or a personal outcome.
  • Sterility when sterility was not tested.
  • Safety for injection, ingestion, or any other administration route.
  • Regulatory approval or equivalence to an approved medicine.
  • That an HPLC area percentage represents all impurities or all quality attributes.

Read the document with the product page

Common questions

Does a COA prove a peptide is approved for human use?

No. A COA reports analytical tests; it does not establish regulatory approval or human-use suitability.

Does HPLC purity prove sterility?

No. HPLC and sterility testing answer different questions and should not be treated as interchangeable.
